Welcome!

You've come to the right place for up to date information about internship, volunteer and job opportunities, as well as college application and scholarship deadlines, field trips, and events happening on campus. You'll also find posts on how to be as successful as possible when planning for your future!

At the bottom of this page you will find a google calendar with information about events, application deadlines, and program information. I find it easiest to navigate the calendar in "agenda" view, which you can switch it to by clicking the "agenda" tab in the upper right hand corner of the calendar.

In addition to the blog, we frequently send out emails with information that is then posted on the blog. Whether your a student, parents, or community member please feel free to join the list serve! You can do this by emailing me the message "add to list serve": macdanme@hsd401.org.

If you have any questions or need any support please stop into the LTI Office or College and Career Center, send an email, or call.

After School Programs

Y-Achievers: Meets Monday's After school to talk about preparing for college and life after high school. This program is open to all students. Students who attend after school meeting get priority for Saturday field trips through YMCA (past field trip have included campus visits, museums, and participate in other fun, hands on events). This would be great to help build experiences for your college application. YMCA also offers a scholarship to students who are involved in their programs.

Youth Venture: Are you interested in starting your own business or do you have a really great idea for a project that could help make a significant change in your community? This is a program that will help you develop those ideas. At the end you will have created a "venture" that you can present in efforts to be granted $1,000 to use towards your project. Meetings will begin in April after school from 2:30-4:30. Space is limited. If you are interested please contact Mrs. D to sign up (come to the college and career center or send me an email: macdanme@hsd401.org). This is open to all students, but would be a great way for juniors to get started on their senior project!

The HHS Robotics team is looking for more people to help out! If you want to be involved with the competition in any of the following areas please let me know: photographing the progress and competition; designing a banner and/or t-shirt for the team; web designer to create a website for the team; business planner to outline the teams budget **Being involved with the robotics team allows you to become eligible for the US First Scholarship. There is a place for everyone!

After School Study Lab: is looking for student volunteers to help their peers with homework. All areas of expertise are welcome, but the most help is need with math. If you are interested in volunteering please see Ms. Shawn at the front desk in the Library after school Monday-Thursday. Study lab starts at 2:15 and ends at 3:15.

THESE ARE GREAT EXPERIENCES TO PUT ON A RESUME!!
